List Your Facebook Fan Page(s) Here…

October 28, 2012 by Dave

This page is all about Facebook pages.

Facbook fan pageslist your facebook like pages

If you have one or several Facebook fan pages, list them here. (comment section below)

You can list as many as you have and you can check back here to find others who have such pages too.

Perhaps by networking with other Facebook fan page owners, you can improve your reach.  More can be accomplished by working together than by working alone! Use the comment section to list your facebook fan pages today!

For this to work best for everyone, you should consider subscribing to the comments and liking all the pages you see here. When your page is liked by others, you should consider liking theirs in return. This is, of course, optional and up to you. There is no requirement to participate in this way.

Website Success

August 17, 2012 by Dave

website-success For the purpose of this discussion.  A successful website is a profitable one.

There are certainly other definitions of success.

I have tried many things over an approximately 10 year period.   (Will be in 10 years in October 2012).

In this time, I have discovered a lot of things that just don’t work.

What Doesn’t Work

Safe Lists

Traffic Exchanges

Social Media  (except for advertising – perhaps)

Linking Schemes  – Ok, they have worked in the past.  But, it is only going to get worse in the future – so I add them here).

Blogging

What Do You Mean By “Working”

For this discussion, “working”  means – long term success – not a one off sale or occasional  sale of your products or service
Safe Lists  – Total waste of time.  If anyone is reading those emails it is someone who is trying to get enough credit to send his next email blast.
Ok, you can always find someone who made a sale after sending ‘who knows  how many thousands’  of emails.

Traffic Exchanges  / Paid to Surf   These don’t work for basically the same reason stated above.

Social Media  – I’ve tried as much as I care too.  SM is no recipe for long term success.  It can lead to an occasional sale.  It appears to be quite random though.     I continue to maintain a social media presence but I will now start to cut way back on my activities there.   You can get more people to your website via hard work with social media.  This can lead to connections and sales, but not a consistent and steady supply of sales.   I don’t rule it out altogether.  But I would say that you should not make social media your primary strategy.

Linking Schemes – People have done well with these in the past.   But those days are close to over.   And even if they do work, you never know when the plug will get pulled.

Not good for long term success.

Blogging  – Yes, I am sorry to say, that I see no evidence that blogging is a good pathway to success.   There are a very few blogs out of the millions out there that have enough traffic to earn advertising revenue.

Beyond that,  forget it.    This is not a pathway that you can likely rely on, but it does work for a VERY limited few.   I am not saying that it cannot work.  I am saying that it does not work for most people.

If you can get 20,000 + visitors every day to your blog, advertising starts to work.    If the traffic is from a poor country,  you will need far more than that 20,000 per day to get very far.

I have been surprised to learn that one blog, I thought was doing well is still using shared hosting.   That tells me that they are not doing well.    Anyone making a decent amount of money will get on dedicated hosting as soon as they  are able to.

Therefore,  there are a lot of bloggers out there who may look like they are doing well,  but they are probably not generating enough revenue to be self supporting.

What Does Work?

I have come to the conclusion that the only thing that will work to give you long term success is advertising – and not just any old advertising.  You need the right kind.

This is the only answer, I feel confident about.   Free Report:  Truth About Traffic

Traffic Does Not Equate To Sales

Most people are wanting entertainment.  Random traffic is not likely to make you a ton of sales.

You need the right kind of traffic.  That is advertising traffic.   It needs to be targeted.  The more targeted the better.

Online Business Stress And Sanity

August 8, 2012 by Dave

online business stress and trafficLet us face it, the same old tired information about getting traffic to your business continues to abound.  But, in the end, do those methods work well enough to fuel your business or take it to the ‘next level’?

Getting more traffic remains a mystery despite all the rehashed advice such as:

Write articles and submit them to directories

Comment on blogs

Write ‘great’ content and hope to rank high in Google

You have probably tried all of these methods and more with little to no success or at least, not enough success,  for your business.

Worse, you may have wasted a great deal of time on traffic exchange programs and ‘safe lists’.

Therefore, you spend countless hours stressed out and asking yourself, “Will my  business survive?”  Or perhaps, “Will I ever get anywhere online”?

Online Business Success

The sad truth is that many people work very hard for long periods of time and still don’t get to where they want to be.

Everyone knows that you need a product or service to sell.   These can be owned by you or someone else.   But, in the end, you have to sell something.   Perhaps you sell advertising?

However you look at it, you are selling a product or service to someone.  That is what business is.  That is what it is about.

If you have a product or service to sell, then you have an offer to make in some way, shape or form.

This can be a traditional sales page or a link on your blog that offers your product or service.   Whatever form that may take,  you need something to sell and an offer for potential customers.

Finally,  the last ingredient our business needs is traffic.

The Online Business Blues

You can write articles,  guest blog,  do blog commenting and a dozens of other things to bring more traffic to your site.   Without traffic, business slows or stops.

But if all of these methods were so great, why do you still feel stress at the end of the day?   Not enough sales are coming in?

It is not fun when you have to keep a business machine running.   It is even harder when you have employees that you have to worry about.  You don’t want your business to fail and put them out of a job either.

The life of a small business owner is often harder than that of an employee.

Perhaps your expenses have risen and now you need to earn even more than you used to.  That means that you need more sales.

Oh, what a vicious cycle, isn’t it?

This is real pain.  The kind that affects the heart deep down inside.

You wanted a business to be free of the all the problems that come from working for someone else.   Now, you find that you have as much or most likely, even more stress than ever!

Would More Traffic Help?

You need to feed your business funnel.  Traffic is that necessary food.   Money comes from the product or services that you sell to other people.  This is clear.

Getting more traffic becomes crucial to business success.

Knowing more about getting a continuous flow of traffic might make a big difference to your bottom line.

What if you could sell your product or service once to every person in the world?   Half the people?  A quarter of the people?  One tenth of the people?   One 10oth of 1% of the people on Earth?

That would be a lot of sales, wouldn’t it?

I can’t promise you that nor would I dare to do so.    But I do think that getting more quality traffic can lead you to more people.   More people can lead to more sales of your product or service.

Where can we get such wonderful traffic?  When can we be rid of that online business stress and regain our sanity?

Risk Free Traffic…

August 7, 2012 by Dave

Risk free traffic doesn't really exist
Do you think these guys see a lot of traffic?

Whenever I hear the term ‘risk free’, I am always skeptical.

After all, even if you don’t risk any money technically speaking, you do risk wasting time.   And that is a more irritating than sitting still while ants bite you.

On the other hand, if there is such a thing as risk free traffic, it would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it?

Risk free traffic would be traffic that you don’t pay for UNTIL you make sales.   Wouldn’t that be a great way to be able to manage your costs?  Who is offering that?

Language Can Be Dangerous

In many ways, I love the English language, but there are multiple ways the language is abused.

Skillful people can write things in certain ways,  they can make implications that lead you to a certain picture in your mind.   However, once you make a purchase or invest your time in a freebie,  you suddenly find that the words used to persuade you actually had a different meaning than what you thought.

This leaves you in a confused state where you start to wonder if the deception was intentional or if you were just misunderstood the reality from the start.

As human beings, we have both problems.  1. We are easily deceived and   2.  We easily deceive ourselves.  Or rather, we are always ‘hoping for the best’.

On the other hand, when you are searching for answers, you have little choice but to try things out and see what works for you.

What Works for Some Does Not Work For Others

Have you ever noticed that one person can get great results from a certain course of action or implementation of an idea while others seem to languish like dried fruit on the vine.

It is a very strange condition in this world.   In mathematics, results can be easily duplicated.  The correct answers are always the same.  They don’t change, provided the math was done correctly.

But, in the real world, one answer can work for one person while another answer works for someone else, but not for the first person!

It is really a bizarre factor in our lives.   I’m sure you have noticed it for yourself at some point in your life.

However, there is a really good aspect to this.   This positive aspect gives us all hope.   It might work for you when it doesn’t work for others!

The only way to find out, is to test everything.

Getting more traffic  to your website, can present the same problem.  One thing works for one person and something else for another.

Situations are always unique and I think this is part of why life works this way!
Risk Free Traffic To YOUR Website

I’ve already stated that I don’t believe in ‘risk free traffic’.    It is a misnomer.  This is because at the very least, you will risk your time and effort.

So don’t let anyone fool you with the special way that words can be used to paint a picture in the English language  – and probably all the other languages too.

Be careful, use your brain, and test everything to see what works for you.   You could find a way to make things work where others fail!   And that spells success for you.

If You Build It, They Will Come…

August 6, 2012 by Dave

getting more traffic to your siteWhy Do We Work So Hard?

As webmasters, we build our websites for visitors.

We spend countless hours working on our sites.   Why?  So that someone will come and read or look at what we have created.

Some people are in it to sell a product or service,  others just want recognition or conversation.

Regardless of your reason for building a website, you most likely want more traffic to your site.  If not,  that would be very rare indeed.

Free Web Traffic Schemes

When people say something works, the concept of ‘it works’ is different for every single person.

You can get a couple of clicks by posting a link on twitter,  if your following is big enough.

But then someone takes that and says that twitter ‘is a way to get free traffic’, it may not be quite as wonderful as it sounds.  A few clicks is not going to build a business or bring enough people to gain that recognition.

Instead, you need a lot o’ clicks.

In addition, you have to create your message and put the link out there.  This is spending time.

That was just an example.   There are all kinds of similar examples where people get a few ‘not so free’ clicks and then they act like they have found the fountain of unlimited traffic that you have been searching for.

Rubbish!

You can work your butt off all day long on free traffic sources and it may never amount to anything.

Of course, there are always rare examples.   Perhaps it works for 1 out of 20,000 people to bring enough traffic to make a difference in recognition or a successful business.

Then that one stellar example is held up as if it were the ‘end all be all’ of getting traffic.   The problem is that the vast majority of people will not be able to reproduce that success!

Can you see where could be the case for ‘free’ traffic methods that you have already tried?

Consistent, Reliable Traffic

Consistent and reliable traffic is truly hard to come by.   No method is fool proof or ‘100% guaranteed’ to actually work.   Usually, when you see that ‘100% guarantee’ ,  they are just saying that they will give you your money back if it does not work for you.

The interesting thing is that is pure psychology.  They know that many disappointed people will never ask for a refund.  They also know that a large fraction of the people will not actually do anything with the information they bought.  Therefore, those people will never ask for a refund because they never tried it out!

Then there is the last fraction that actually tries really hard.  This is a very, very limited number of overall buyers.   Some of them won’t even ask for a refund.  A few will.   But that few is a fraction of a fraction.  Therefore, the sellers of products will get to keep most of the money they make.

A 100% guarantee is rubbish,  it is a psychological trick – and marketers know that.   Most will honor your request but they know the number asking for a refund will be small to the overall money they take in.

This is a factor that they calculate as part of ‘the costs of doing business’.

So you see, consistent, reliable traffic is hard to come by.    And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

The Best List Building Course

July 22, 2012 by Dave

Best list building course

My personal choice – for list building.

If you are into online marketing at all, then you probably have heard that you must have a list.   I never believed that to be true and I still don’t.

However,  I do believe it can make your life a lot easier under the right circumstances.

Why?  Because, a list might help you to stabilize your income and make it a lot more predictable.

A list is something you can keep forever.  It is yours.   So long as your subscribers stay on it and you are offering something of value, you are likely to have a continual revenue stream for a long time.

At least, that is the idea.  That is the goal.  But, you shouldn’t expect that your road towards that goal will be easy.  And you should never expect that your success is assured.

The truth about business is that it is not always easy.   On the other hand, some businesses do provide their owners a comfortable and leisurely lifestyle.

The question is: How Do You Get There?   The Answer is:  The path and journey are different for every person.

So, I don’t expect you to buy into the concept that building email marketing lists is ‘the only’ path to success but is sure seems to work for a lot of people.

How Many People Do You Need To Be Successful With A List

The Answer:  No one knows.

It is going to be different for each person.  It’s possible to have 100,000 people on your list but difficult  for you to be  sell anything to them.

It is also possible to have a list of 10,000 and make a great income.

Some of the factors in this are your market and how you treat the people on your list.   If you have a big list already and you are not making any sales, it could be possible that you have gone down the wrong path.

A correction may be just what you needed.

Why Search Engine Optimization Is Not Trust Worthy

You cannot rely on search engine marketing because the search engines change how they evaluate  and rank sites all of the time.

You could be on top today and on page 37 (where no one is likely to find you)  the next day.

Therefore, you could have a business today that runs on your ability to be at the top of the SE results. However, tomorrow could be a different story.

You don’t want to build a house on shifty sand.    The search engines are constantly shuffling things around.   This may not be the best for long term and lasting success.

Why Advertising May Only Be a Short Term Solution

You can find successful situations with ad programs, such as media buys,  google adwords and banner networks.   However, it requires an ongoing and continuous expense.  But if you are profitabe, who cares, right?

Someone cares, particularly your competitors, and they will be watching you.   If they find a way to do it better,  your advertisement success could slip and your revenue along with it.

A product that you have been successful with could lose its appeal in the future.   This is particularly true for fad items, like diets and berry drinks.

But if you were to build a list, you have a group of people that you can market too over and over again – provided you have something of value to sell to them.

Autoresponders

An autoresponder, used correctly, has a special appeal.

Once someone gets on your list with an interest in solving a particular problem, you can have an automated message system that continues to offer the solution to their problems for a period of time.

Many experts believe that most people need to be exposed to a message and solution multiple times before they will consider purchasing that solution.

For example – I help educate people about gum disease and what I have found that helped myself and A LOT of other people.    I wrote a short e-book about this problem, the solution and how to monitor your results objectively (not subjectively) and I put it all into an autoresponder series that people can sign up for.  They can enjoy the information as it comes to them over a period of days or weeks.

Here is where you can find that autoresponder example:  https://HowToStopGumDiseaese.com

Website Traffic As Another Example

Another example of a problem that people need to solve is getting traffic to their websites and online businesses.    I have an autorepsonder series that teaches people how they can get more traffic to their sites.

They can get a free report called, The Truth About Traffic and a series of autoresponder messages that helps them understand the problem of traffic better and what they can do to get more of it.

How Many Autoresponders Can You Create

The more automated systems you have that offer real and viable solutions to people’s problems, the better your chances for success.

Business is really about automation, isn’t it?   You see this everywhere.  Businesses try to become more and more efficient and they automate as much as they can to avoid expenses and complications.

Complicated processes and systems makes things harder.  The more moving parts their are, the greater the chance for something to break.   You want to make things as simple as possible.

The more automated your business becomes and the less ‘hands on’ time you have to spend, the greater will be the freedom that you can obtain – and enjoy.

Simple automation is best in this regard, in most cases.
The Best List Building Course

I have taken a couple of list building courses and I have passed on others that didn’t convince me that I should buy them.

However,  I have recently come across one that I did buy and I am still in the process of going through that course (at the time of this writing).

What I have seen so far is great.    So, I can recommend these free videos to you to check out:  https://allthingspondered.com/listbuilding

In addition, this system offers a lot of benefits such as giving you systems that have already been utilized and shown to work.

However, I don’t want you to think that it is easy.  Anything worth doing in this life requires work and effort and perhaps a nod from the big guy upstairs.

Could building a rock solid business, like a centuries old statue, have an impact on your life?

I thought I would share my thoughts on list building here with you today.   I hope you enjoyed this post.   Leave your comments and thoughts below.

Getting More Traffic To Your Website – Paid, Not Free

July 16, 2012 by Dave

getting-more-traffic-to-your-businessMost Of Us Want More Traffic

Wanting more traffic to your websites is natural.  We all want that.  The few people who do not, may have other motives for being online.

Recognition and / or sales is the main reason we want ‘traffic’ to our website.

This article is more about paid traffic for those who want to sell products or services online.

If you don’t want that, this article will probably not be of much value to you.

I just want to save you from reading something that won’t interest you.

Free Traffic Is Tough To Work With

Free traffic is never really free.  Sometimes, when you add the costs in time and effort,  free traffic can be very costly.

Free traffic is often about ‘tire kickers’ or ‘entertainment seekers’ – these are people who are just bored.

These are just two of the problems with ‘free’ traffic.

I have seen times where I had a LOT of free traffic and I can tell you that smaller amounts of targeted traffic are definitely more beneficial if you are seeking to sell products or services.

If you are trying to sell a product or service, paying for traffic that has an interest related to your product or service is probably going to give you better results about 99% of the time.

If you can find free targeted traffic that would be very cool.

The question then becomes, Can you get enough free, targeted traffic?

If your answer to that question is yes, read no further, you have everything you want and you don’t need more traffic!

Paid Traffic Cons

— The obvious con to paid traffic is that it costs you money.  The only way to get past that barrier is to make more from that traffic than you spend.

In that way, you can afford to buy ever increasing amounts of paid traffic.    As long as it is profitable and continues to be profitable, that just makes sense.

— Another con when searching for paid traffic is in regards to who you are buying it from.   If the source is actually tapping into ‘junk’ traffic and selling it to you, that is a rip off!

The test is always going to be your profitability.

— The third con paid traffic is in regards to one network in particular.   I won’t name it by name, but you have almost definitely heard of that company.   “You know who”…  as they might say in the Harry Potter world.

This company is a real pain with excessive rules and arbitrary account suspensions.

This is a real con because it can make creating a profitable situation very time consuming and full of hassles.    But, what if there are ‘other’ sources of large quantities of quality paid traffic, without all of the hassles that come with ‘you know who’?

I had an experience one year when “You Know Who” suspended my paid traffic account during the Christmas Holiday Shopping Season.   Magically, I was cleared to use my account again when the selling season was over.   Would that irritate you?     🙂

Lesson:  You cannot depend entirely on “You Know Who”  for your business.   That could leave you with empty pockets, suddenly, and without warning.
Pros Of Paid Quality, Targeted Traffic

– You can make more sales of your product and service when compared to ‘free’ traffic.

– With more sales, your customer list of buying customers grows continuously larger.

– It can be scaled.  This means you can test out with smaller amounts of traffic and add more as you discover how to best profit from that traffic.

– You can save huge amounts of time.   Let us face the cold hard reality,  ‘free’ traffic costs us lots of time and effort!   Tired of working late to get more visitors to your site?   Tired of working nights and weekends all for a tiny financial benefit?

I know how you feel, if you answered yes to those last couple of questions.   I know the pain of working long hours for little results.   I know the pain of not being with your family and loved ones due to the need to work.  Perhaps you have even missed a vacation or two?    I know that I have.   And it is sickening to even think about those times!

The Truth About Traffic

Before, we go any further, I want to remind you about what I said at the beginning of this article.  If you are a ‘free traffic’ person and are ONLY interested in free traffic, this is not for you.

Paid traffic means that you are willing to spend something to get traffic that you can (hopefully) make profitable.

If you are not willing to take a risk with your money, this just is not what you want.  So please do not sign up below for the Report:  The Truth About Traffic   It won’t do you any good and could even frustrate you.

On the other hand, if you already know that paid traffic works or you think you might want to find out,  you can read the report that a marketer that has earned my respect has created.   The name of the report is:

Quality Blog Comments With Examples

May 21, 2012 by Dave

blog comment quality image one

Important:  Some email spammers are attempting to use this webpage as some sort of validation.  If you have received an email directing you to this page,  understand that those people have Nothing to do with this site and they are running some sort of scam…      End Note…

I want to share with you a couple of blog comments that should be considered quality.  I promise you will see them below.  But first, a few quick words about why.

The Reason Why You Want To Make Quality Blog Comments

Blog commenting is about building relationships with other blog owners.    You want them to know who you are and trust you enough to feel comfortable recommending your blog or any specific posts that you have written.

With this kind of trust and cooperation it is possible to build up traffic.  That is what most (not all) blog owners want.

Why Do You Want Traffic?

Traffic is necessary to monetize your blog real estate.  You need that traffic to provide revenue in the form of advertising fees, direct sales or affiliate sales.   There may be other ways to monetize as well, such as building your email list.  But that still equates to more revenue.

I acknowledge this explanation is very basic, but that is all we need in the way of background for this topic.

What Is a Quality Blog Comment?

I think it is best to jump in with the examples first and then discuss them more fully.

Quality Blog Comment Number One:

This comment was made on this post so that you can see it in it’s ‘natural’ environment.

Quality blog content -example one

Why Is This A Quality Comment?

1. Corky Starts from His Own Experience.   When you share personal experiences in your blog comment you are truly giving something unique because it is YOUR experience.   People tend to appreciate that you have ‘opened up’ a little bit and shared something personal.

But more important than that, is that people, when analyzing information, are very interested in personal experiences.   All  the theory in the world is not worth much if it does not work in the ‘real’ world.

This is why people love personal stories.    Not to mention that story telling is the most powerful way to get a point across that we know of.   Just make sure your stories are true.  If people figure out that you are lying, then it will seriously discredit you and your comments.

Corky shares the information that was given to him and he passes it on to us.   He explains what is end result was.  This is what people want.  They want to know what you did, what happened and how it ultimately worked for you!

People don’t care about ‘theories’.  They want ‘real life’ validation and Corky provides that.

2. Notice the length of the comment.    It is 9 Lines of quality.   How many comments have you seen that are about 2.5 lines max.   You get the feeling that these ‘drive by’ commentors are just there for the link.

Remember that we talked about relationship building a little while ago?

Corky shows that he read the blog post and that he has something intelligent, valuable and useful to add to the discussion.

This is what makes this a high quality comment.  If Corky were to approach me about making a guest post on my blog,  I would be far more likely to oblige him, because of his quality comments, than someone ‘out of the blue’.

Quality Blog Comment Number 2

This comment was made on a post about outsourcing work to the Philippines, you can see the post here.

Here is the comment:

Quality Blog Comments Example 2

What makes this a quality comment?

1. Notice the picture.  This tells me that this is a real person that is not afraid to show who she is.     That instills trust and confidence.   Notice that I did not say that there was a link to her ‘website’.

2 There is a link to her blog.     I want to know that blog comments are coming from someone who has a blog that receives comments too.

3.  Once again  Anna speaks from her own experience.   She tells us that she is an outsourced worker herself.

4.  She gives quality tips about what might be helpful.  That is going to resonate with the readers of this blog who will find her comments interesting too.

5.  If you go to the post, you will see that Anna replied to my reply.   That’s Quality!    She didn’t just ‘drive by’ and leave a comment, she signed up to know when someone replied and she came back to continue the discussion.

All of these things, plus what we discussed on Corky’s comment, are indicators of a quality blog comment.

What is a NON-Quality Blog Comment?

While the two examples above define quality blog commenting, I thought I should share an example of what is not quality.

I won’t display a comment here, because I don’t want to embarrass anyone, instead I’ll make a fictional, but typical, poor quality blog comment.

“Hi That was a great post,  I really liked it.   I learned a lot.  I’m going to bookmark this page.   I’m going to tell my friends about it.  Thanks!”

Tip: Use your real name when commenting.  No one wants comments from phdf32X  or  “golf man” !

I hope these examples helped to show you the difference between quality and non-quality blog comments.

In case you need more information to point out the differences, I have made a video that goes over the same comments.  Perhaps the visual and auditory components will help to clarify further.

Here is the video:

I hope this information and video helped you to understand what a quality blog comment is and what the benefits to you personally are for making quality comments.

Looking forward to hearing your quality blog comments below!   If you have some thoughts to add on what makes a quality blog comment, that would be very welcome.

Getting More Traffic To Your Site Through The Disqus Commenting System

Commenting With Disqus For Traffic

Everyone knows that bloggers love to comment, primarily through the CommentLuv system- which as become quite popular amongst the various blogging communities.

But did you know that you can also use Disqus to comment on high traffic sites, which includes blogs, news, and a number of other types of sites?

Currently, it’s true.

All you need is a free Disqus profile where you can proudly insert a single link and even a description to any site you would like to. As far as I know, they also allow affiliate links! How cool is that?

[Please see the notes below about spamming before proceeding). Do not ruin it for everyone else. Or we will find you and… (LOL. just kidding / joking).]

I have compiled a small list of high traffic sites that use the Disqus commenting system:

A List Of High Traffic Sites Using The Disqus Commenting System

https://www.theepochtimes.com  – This one has a good Alexa ranking but they may not always approve a comment.  You should make nice, polite posts there if you want them to be approved.  It is not a free-for-all commenting site, like some of those in the rest of the list.

 https://time.com

https://edition.cnn.com  – update – edition.cnn no longer displays your link with your post.   Do not waste time commenting on any site that won’t display your link.  Always check a site to make sure your link displays.

Do NOT Comment Spam

Before you go off with that list and spew inappropriate comments all over the place, I want you to think long term for a moment.   These sites can throw away this great comment system and start using something else tomorrow.

That something else may not be as cool as Disqus – meaning that they let you put a link on their site.   If that were to happen and you lost the ability to leave a link it would be a bummer for the entire community.

In addition, you would lose any link value that was residual after the system was removed.   I hope that is powerful enough incentive for you to think twice about what you are about to do.

Do not wreck it for everyone else, just because you can’t wait to get some spammy links out there.

Here Are Some Suggested Guidelines To Follow

1.  Use a real picture of yourself in your profile.  – People will feel more comfortable knowing that you are a real person with a real face and that you are NOT hiding behind the cloak of anonymity.

2. Write long and meaningful comments that are related to the article you are commenting on.   – No one likes to see someone blatantly promoting something unrelated to the article.  So, don’t do that!  Take a few minutes and write a nice comment that will add to the discussion and show that you are a giver and not (just) a taker.

Give to the communities that you are trying to be a part of.   If you abuse the system, your comments will probably be removed anyway and that would be a huge waste of your time and effort.

If no one can see your links, they are not worth much, are they?

Another benefit to posting long and meaningful comments is that they will stand out more.    If your 10 line comment is situate between a bunch of one or three liners – who’s comment do you think readers’ eyes will be more drawn to you?    – And look there!  There is a handy link right to your website right by your name and picture!

3. Forget about Key Words  – Seriously,  keywords do not belong on these high traffic sites.   Use your name  –  or if you are too scared – use a made up name – just make it ‘real’ name.

If you use keywords for your name,  you are probably only going to hasten the moment when your comment has been flagged too often and the scrutiny of a moderator is going to come into play.   When they see your profile has no picture or something related to your business and not you, plus your spammy comment and link, what do you think they will do?

Bottom Line – Post nice, long, thoughtful comments with your real name and without keywords!

4. Participate in The Conversation – The Disqus system will let you know when someone has replied to your comment.   Commenting again in reply, which you can actually do via email without revisiting the site (another cool feature of Disqus), is a snap.

Should I Use Disqus On My Own Site?

That is totally up to you and it is not required that you implement Disqus on your own site in order to comment throughout the Disqus system.

You can sign up for your own free Disqus account here.

I have seen blogs that are using Disqus for their comment system.  However, commentluv is a well established system that seems to be favored by most bloggers including some of the most successful ones.

On the other hand, many bloggers, including some very successful ones are now using Disqus.

Whether you use Disqus on your own sites or not is completely optional and one hundred percent your own choice.

Benefits of Exposure With Disqus

You have probably already noticed that Disqus is being used in some very interesting and high traffic places as well as thousands of lower traffic sites.

The fact that CNN is using it (at the time of this writing) shows that it works well and that many people are willing to use the Disqus commenting system.

With many sites and users, the chances of someone finding you and your link are that much higher.

– Your comments are saved and linked to your profile.

Therefore, if people liked a comment they saw and they click on your profile link, (which is often tied to your picture or avatar), they will be able to see other comments you made on other websites.

In addition, your profile itself has your link on the (high traffic) Disqus site itself.

Therefore, there are two ways to find the link to your site.

1. They can find it on your comment itself

2. They can find it on your profile link.

If you do happen to use Disqus on your own site, people will see the comments you have made there too (in reply to other commentors.

All of this simply increases the ability of others to find the link to your site(s)

This could result in greater traffic to your blog.
