Here is an important link for those who have followed the Taiwan issue.
Taiwanese-American Speaks out against oppression – by Peter Chai ’06 MD’10: Free Taiwan
I myself have been to an Edgar Snow benefit dinner and suffered through hearing the Chinese Ambassador – the one who refused to accept my information about the persecution of Falun Gong – stand there and blatantly say, ‘everyone knows that Taiwan is part of China’.
Let’s remember a bit of history. When the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) came to power they brutally killed a lot of people. A lot of Chinese who had been successful and were wealthy were killed or escaped – mostly to Taiwan.
Taiwan has no desire to be ‘part of China’ and neither are they a ‘rogue province’ as China likes to say. Many of the people living on Taiwan today had relatives that were persecuted by the CCP.
Why would Taiwan ever want to be part of China. China’s current government is about as close to evil as you can get. They still kill and torture people for no reason.
Falun Gong is a peaceful meditation practice, you can read the stories of abuse, rape, torture and killing perpetrated upon them by the Chinese Communist Party. This is modern history, not even as old as the Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989. It’s happening today.
Taiwan should be recognized as an independent country, because – that is what it is!
And the Chinese Communist Party should stop persecuting Falun Gong, the Tibetans, Christians, Buddhists and the many other groups and individuals that it persecutes.
