The First Emperor

December 25, 2006 by Dave

tiananmen- squareI just read an interesting commentary on a show that will be playing at the Lincoln Center in New York.

The name of the show is The First Emperor.

On the surface it seems like an innocent play for entertainment.

The author of the review, Wenyi Wang challenges that assumption.

She asserts that this is a propaganda piece created by the Chinese Communist Party. They may be attempting to glorify violence and suppression to deflect criticism from their own use of such tactics.

They brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners and other individuals and groups in China. Don’t be fooled by their attempts to influence Western culture.

Tiananmen Square Victim

Maybe the communists are clever deceivers?

They seem to care for nothing but their own power at the expense of the people of China. They may be willing to hurt the people of the entire world to get their way.

Read the review above. If you have anything to say about this, please share it below under comments or ‘leave a reply’.

Tips For Fighting Acne

Acne Gel

Acne can strike teens, adults, even babies!. As far as I can make out, its partially age linked and partially heriditary – if your relatives are spotty you’re odds on to have zits yourself. Acne is possibly hormonal and not reliably linked to diet or cleanliness.

Acne IS controllable/ treatable.

If you are suffering from acne outbreaks at the computer, and they are giving you grief, consider the following:

Stress has a strong linkage to acne outbreaks, especially in adults. What’s the cause, can it be eliminated, can it be avoided or can it be reduced?

Take Breaks – a good acne fighter is to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and sun for a few minutes.

Your immune system needs a charge from Mother Nature, and possibly a break with (or away from) other humans.

-Lack of Hydration. You need need plenty of liquid to flush out poisons and toxins from your body. Some believe that poisons that can’t get out any other way wll exit through your skin.

– Keep plenty of water, fruit juice, and low sugar squashes handy and use them whenever thirst strikes.

– Ease back on the stimulants and depressants – coffee, tea, fizzy canned drinks, Beaujolais or buckets of vodka.

– Poor Diet? The jury is out here. May not cause acne directly, but may cause stress and definitely contributes to obesity. So if you are working in what is essentially a low exercise office environment, a useful strategy might be to go for the healthier low fat option.

– Eat plenty of vegetables, fruit and low fat protein (fish, meatless protein, chicken, turkey) and ease off on snacking on junk, spicy or highly processed foods, fatty meats and deep fried food.

-Allergies – A rash or eczema is one of the possible symptoms from a reaction to a particular food and isn’t acne, but can look just as bad.

Top food allergens are:  Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree nut (walnut, cashew, etc.) ,Fish, Shellfish, Soy products,Wheat products (bread, wheat cereals). Children may grow out of  food allergies to milk, eggs, soybean products and wheat

– wash your skin with a gentle cleanser. Dont scour it. pick or scratch at your spots. If a few zits appear, try an over the counter remedy and see if they clear up.

– See your doctor or dermatologist. See what they suggest as a proper acne treatment.

Sandstorm – The movie

August 22, 2006 by Dave

Sandstorm is a great movie that will be showing at the Glenwood Arts Theatre in Overland Park, Kansas on September 15th 2006.

It is about how the Chinese communists use police brutality and a system of labor camps to control and kill people who are free thinkers and have different opinions from the ruling communist party.

This is an excellent movie to help people understand what The Chinese Communist Party really is and how it has maintained control over China for the last 60 years or so.

I’ve watched this movie and I can tell you that it is very powerful. You should see it.

Here is a website if you want to learn more about the movie – Sandstorm

Sandstorm Rating: NR Running Time: 86 minutes
Showing on 9-15-2006 at 5:10 PM
Synopsis: Trapped twelve days in a sandstorm and running out of food and water, a Chinese policeman cares for his dying wife as they grieve over their missing daughter. Recollections of his part in the vicious persecution of Falun Gong practitioners torment him, waking him to deeper truths and hope.

If you would like to purchase individual tickets for a show, you will need to go to the Glenwood Arts Theatre or call them to purchase by phone.

If you happen to call at a show time, please be patient with their theatre staff. They will help everyone as quickly as possible.

hope you enjoyed your rainy sleep. if i slept every time it rained, well, i’d probably be able to stay awake on saturdays, unless it was raining, of course.
