I thought I’d add my comments to the growing number of posts on this memorable day.
Martin Luther King, Jr. stood for civil disobedience for the purpose of making a positive change. And he made a great impact, did he not?
The strategy of peaceful non-violence is a powerful one. You can see that Gandhi employed the same strategy effectively.
But don’t be mislead, this is not a ‘strategy’ in the typical sense. Civil disobedience combined with non-violence is extremely powerful in that it requires something from inside you.
It requires a commitment to not fighting back even when you are being beaten. When you can truly make such a stance, you have become superhuman. The average man or woman cannot do this and doesn’t have the inner resolve to accomplish it.
Only when you deeply believe in something, can you employ this method.
Today, we have the peaceful protests and non-violent civil disobedience of the Falun Gong practitioners in China.
