Here is a note I recently received:
For many of us, choosing a doctor is not really something that happens. We go to the hospital, a doctor sees us, sends us to another doctor who sends us to another doctor.
My Reply: Sure, I can see that. This is why I encourage people to take more control over their own health care. You have every right and you should ask questions of your health care providers.
Find out everything you can about whatever your health problem is. You have every right to understand your situation from as many angles as you can.
If your health provider isn’t willing to do that much, then something is very, very wrong.
Also, if you don’t like what your doctor has to say, you every right to go to another doctor and get a second opinion or a third, etc.
PS, This post is for information purposes only. If you have or think you might have a health problem visit your physician for advice, diagnosis and treatment.
