Food combining - To limit fat intake, but still get enough protein, I like to combine foods to get a complete protein with almost zero fat.
Example: Rice and corn. Those two together give you all the essential amino acids. Sometimes weight loss is boring and tedious. You have to have a list of 'whys' for what you are doing. Pull this list out when it seems too tough to go on. Finally, you might need a little helping hand when it comes to weight loss. David: I have read every nutritional label across the board and I have never seen rice and corn being listed as complete amino acids; furthermore, absolutely exceedingly little protein content & even less fiber content. The exceptional combination that I use is good wild rice w/ beans (beans are extremely high in fiber & protein). How far off the target am I?Pegasus et. al. ![]()

Hi Pegasus,
Rice and Beans do create a complete protein. Rice and Corn combined also contain all of the amino acids without the side effects of beans! Either one works great. I have used the rice and corn combo and it works great. Actually, most vegetables mixed with rice will provide all of the amino acids. |

Kat,
Yes, there are a number of theories about mixing proteins and starches. Well, more importantly, fat and starches. One is that the stomach ph needs to be different for both, therefore eating them together creates a neturalizing affect and the food is not digested very well thus creating toxins in the system. Another is more concerned with mixing starches and fat, and most animal proteins come with at least some fat. When your body stores fat, the molecule of storage has a fatty acid head on it with a long carbohydrate tail. Therefore, mixing starch and fat is like giving your body permission to store fat. It only does what it would do naturally. It's amazing how unhealthy some eating combinations that are very traditional are. In general, people don't really know this kind of stuff but they should. |
