Mortgages and Human Nature…

Having a mortgage really bothers me.  In fact, it can be very depressing just to think about what a mortgage is.

Ultimately it is way for someone to get you to pay them 3 times the price you were supposed to pay for your home.

The interest is absolutely disgusting.  When you think of a 5% mortgage, you might say, “Well 5% doesn’t sound so bad.”  What you don’t realize is that it is 5% of your mortgage principle every single year!   The numbers get big really fast.

And what is really ugly about it is that it is really one group of human beings preying on another group.

I have been paying on my mortgage for 11 years now.   Do you know that I have paid about 85% of the total value of what I purchased this place for and yet my total principle has only decreased by about 12 or 13%?  Isn’t that disgusting?

By the time I am finished paying for this place, at the current rate, I will pay for the initial purchase at least twice and probably more.   That is horrible.

Someone is making a whole lot of money off me that they would not have been able to make if I had been able to buy my home outright from the beginning.

Think of what the burden of this loan does to my ability to spend each month.  How degraded my purchasing power is!

Worse, I have student loans too – but that is another story.  We’ll save that for another day!

Human nature has a strong element of greed in it.  Do the lenders really have to make back 100% to 200% on what they lent you in the first place?

How does one get a home without borrowing under such horrible terms.   It is really disgusting.  This is an example of one group of humans preying on another group.

Why should any of us have to pay 2 to 3 times what the purchasing cost of our home was in the first place?

So you see, here is another example of greed.  And it is a harsh one.  It really does border on, if it is not truly, a form of slavery.

Economic slavery.   Why should we be slaves to another group of people economically?   It doesn’t seem right, does it?

In America, we are supposedly free, but in reality we are preyed upon economically by others.

So, therefore, we must conclude that the majority of us are born into a kind of slavery.   In effect, the dark ages never left.  We are still serfs.  It just manifests in a different form.

Being a slave to work someone else’s land has been replaced by ridiculous amounts of  interest that has to be paid back.

Some people are born into the resources to take care of all those things.  Others simply become a slave to it.

Hate your job?  Who could blame you.  Seriously.  How convenient is it that being saddled with debt in the form of loans for you house, your schooling and your vehicle, among others, makes it necessary for your to continue to go to your job every day.   Options?  What options are there really?   Shall we live under a bridge?   There is no option.   You can’t really opt out of this kind of slavery very easily.  You can try, but many won’t or can’t do it.

This greedy side of human nature makes one person want to enslave and profit off the efforts of another person.  Isn’t that what it comes down to in the end?

Understanding our world and human nature is important.  I like Zhuan Falun by Li, Hongzhi  – very good book available for free at Falundafa.org
