Synnd Review…

Disclosure: I am an affiliate for the Synnd Network.

You may have heard of Synnd which gives you the power to leverage social media to promote your site.

Does it work?

It will depend on your measuring stick. For example, can it increase your Alexa ranking? Yes, it has increased my Alexa ranking. My experience is not with this site, but on another site I’ve used it on.

Does it increase sales? One would assume that an increase in traffic may result in an increase in sales. I cannot be certain of that. That is my fault because: 1. tracking is hard to do accurately – especially when there are many variables. 2. I have to admit that I’m a bit lazy about tracking.

Therefore, I did not put much effort into tracking.

Synnd Network Having Problems?

At the time of this writing, July 17th 2010, I have to say that Synnd is definitely experiencing growing pains. Last message I received in this regard is that they are rebuilding the entire core. – whatever that means. Fortunately, it is still functioning as they take on this task.

When I first joined Synnd it was marvelous – you could get traffic raging very quickly. After a couple of months things changed, after they started upgrading and changing things, it became a little more cumbersome. They began to crack down on ‘aggressive’ users.

Is it still worth it? In my opinion, yes. I’m still utilizing it. And I do believe it provides benefit. On the site I am utilizing it on, I do notice that if I stop using it for a few days that my Alexa rankings drop.

If you have a site with tons of content (hopefully quality content) Synnd could be helpful to you. It does appear that it has worked better at driving traffic for me than pretty much everything else I have tried. However, each person will have their own experience.

If, after you read about Synnd, and you think it is for you, you can give it a try. Not everything works for everybody. Our own experiences are always going to be unique. When discussing these things, you can only talk in a general matter!

Do I think it is worth it despite the trouble? As I mentioned above, yes, I still think it has been worth it.

I am a member of Synnd and all we are getting is shutting down the system for upgrades, we are unable to use the system, but they are using our money to expand the system ( they are great at using other peoples money ) but eventually they are going to suffer when the word about how total careless they are about their customers hey are. I have several campaigns that have been waiting for two months and today I found that declared my sites are inactive when they were never inactive for five months now. A total failure in managing the system, I am not blaming the system, I am blaming those who running it, endless problems to deal with them.

There were some problems with Synnd as I noted in the article. However,
Synnd has just completed a set of upgrades and it does appear that everything is running a lot smoother now.

I actually am starting to enjoy it now.

I’ve been using Synnd for 2 months and very little within their system actually works. Three major features within their site are broken and don’t look to be fixed at any time soon. In fact I was told a particular feature will be ready and operational “at the end of the week.” I was told that three times over the course of 4 weeks and still, the thing isn’t fixed.
You can create campaigns that get you a set number of bookmarks. I set mine to ten per day. I’m lucky if I get one.
You can create campaigns to spin an article for you and submit to over ten article directories in one go. The feature is broken and they don’t answer my question about when it’s going to be fixed.
You can create a campaign to have people leave a certain number of comments on your blog. I set mine to five per day. I don’t get any whatsoever.

They’ve emailed this response to me twice:
“The problem lies in the algoritm that selects which campaigns will get action first. The algorithm sweeps from the top of the list “newest” down to the bottom (oldest). It also sweeps from the bottom up, selecting older campaigns and then moving to newer. The algorithm also sweeps from the middle-top down and from the middle-bottom up. This was done to (hopefully) give all campaigns (despite their age) equal promotional opportunity.

Apparently there is still a problem with that logic so we are fixing it.”

I don’t give a hoot about the algorithm, I just want to know when it’s going to be fixed and why the heck you are charging me money for something I’m not getting.

If you’re thinking of buying it, then don’t.
