Kelsey Hilderbrand makes some interesting points in her article entitled, “The Final Loss of Credibility“.

Is it true that those clamoring for Human Rights have a double standard?

Sometimes it is true. If the American Troops are treated worse than the prisoners of Abu Grab by the insurgents, and the hr activists don’t speak out against that too, isn’t there a double standard there? I’d say yes.

Don’t take me wrong. Human rights are important, but let us acknowledge that the lack of human rights in this world is a disaster across the board.

An injustice, particularly a human rights injustice, can occur anywhere at anytime and be perpetrated by anyone. It is a flaw of human nature to commit human rights violations and injustices in general. It is a manifestation of selfishness inherent in human beings. Inherent, but not impossible to overcome.

What gets confusing is the question of when and under what circumstance someone is creating a human rights violation or defending against one.

That is the dilemma. A dilemma that was neatly solved by Gandhi. He refused to be violent, no matter what, even if he died.

Now, I admit that is a tall order for most people to fill. What it means is that ANY action taken against him was purely a human rights violation because he was being peaceful and calm and NOT causing harm to anyone.

And so it is today with the peaceful Falun Gong practitioners in China. All acts against them are purely human rights violations because they are not fighting anyone and they do not fight back when the Chinese Communist regime attacks them.

That means the fight is all one sided and the Falun Gong practitioners’ human rights are being grossly violated by bad people. (the Chinese government agents that perpetrate these atrocities and those who make the policies. )
