Friends of Falun Gong August Update

There have been a number of developments since our last Member Update. Here are a few of the stories we would like to share with you:

Chinese Physicians Charged with Overseeing Organ Removal
Noted human rights attorney Dr. Terri Marsh filed a lawsuit charging two Chinese doctors attending the World Transplantation Conference in Boston with overseeing forced organ removal from Falun Gong prisoners of conscience at the hospitals they run. “This is a ripple in a wave of criminal lawsuits that we will file in every country against officials and surgeons in China who are involved,” Dr. Marsh declared to The Epoch Times newspaper.

Investigative Report Supports Allegations of Organ Harvesting
A report released in July concludes that allegations of killing and organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China are true. Co-authored by former Canadian Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific) David Kilgour and respected human rights attorney David Matas, the report substantiates claims of for ced organ harvesting in China. In their response to the Chinese government’s denials, Kilgour and Matas stated: “None of our findings are based on rumour. Every finding we make is sourced and independently verifiable.”

Charges Dropped against White House Protester
In late June, U.S. prosecutors dropped all charges against Dr. Wenyi Wang, the Falun Gong practitioner who created a stir on the White House lawn in April. Dr. Wang shouted: “President Bush, stop him from killing,” during Chinese Communist Party leader Hu Jintao’s April visit to the U.S. Dr. Wang has maintained that she took such a public stance to bring attention to the urgent situation of organ extraction and killing of live Falun Gong practitioners in detainment.

European Parliament VP Meets with Falun Gong Practitioners
In May, European Parliament Vice Presiden t Edward McMillan-Scott visited Beijing in his role as rapporteur for the EU’s new Democracy and Human Rights Instrument. While there, he met with two formerly imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners, one of whom went missing soon afterwards. After meeting with the practitioners, Mr. McMillan-Scott urged human rights organizations worldwide to focus on China in advance of the 2008 Olympics.

Google Co-Founder Says They “Compromised Principles”
Sergey Brin, one of the co-founders of Google, whose corporate slogan has been “Don’t Be Evil,” said that Google had “compromised its principles by accommodating Chinese censorship demands.” Two days later, BB Newswire reported that a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman gave a “stern warning to Google and offered no hope that Beijing might soften its policy of Internet censorship.”

The volunteers at Friends of Falun Gong USA thank you, as always, for your concern, kind wishes and support on behalf of those whose voices cannot be heard. We urge you to take action and to encourage others to do so as well.
