Herpes

Herpes?

Imagine how it would feel to suddenly be informed by your doctor that you have herpes.

I know someone this happened to.

A sister of a high school girlfriend contracted herpes from her very first relationship. She was only 17 at the time.

Another person I know was diagnosed as having herpes, and she described to me in excruciating detail the psychological agony that it causes her.

The stigma that society places on having herpes makes it difficult to even talk about.

I’ve also read a number of people’s experiences online.

Many feel absolutely terrible about having contracted herpes.

They think their lives are RUINED.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Don’t let negative thinking get you down.

According to a government website 1 out of 4 people in North America have it.

Some names or phrases for herpes you may or may not recognize:

cold sores, herpes, genital herpes, herpes simplex 1, herpes simplex 2.

Yes, cold sores are most often a form of herpes. And yes, it is the same herpes that can become genital herpes.

Genital herpes can be either Simplex 1 or 2.

and truly do have options – look at this page:

I have been with my husband, ONLY my husband for four years. We are a committed and caring couple. I was just diagnosed with herpes this week. My heart sank. My husband has not been unfaithful nor have I. This sucks. But hey…what can you do? You accept the fact and move on. I am going to a support group next week and am excited to be able to ask some questions.

    Hi Jessica,

Sounds like you are already starting to figure out that it is NOT the end of the world and in the end, might not be that big of a deal at all. Keep going and stay positive!

At least you are married and won\’t have to struggle with telling someone you just met about it.
(which everyone should do by the way – it\’s not right to hide this from a loved one)

There is a lot of good information on herpes out there. I currently have a book called \”Never an Outbreak\” which I think is pretty good. You can find it on Amazon. This book explains what people have done to stop outbreaks. It covers specific products that contain oxygen to how your diet can help control herpes.

I hope it is useful to you and others who are struggling. If you can prevent outbreaks, it may not affect your life much at all!
